QUICK, SOURCED & DIRECTIONAL

A ballpark valuation—with the assumptions in plain sight.

This is a decision-support starting point. It combines published size evidence with explicitly identified DTA judgment adjustments; it does not pretend that public data equals a private-comparable valuation.

All free outputs are preliminary decision-support tools based on unverified user-provided information. They are not formal valuations, appraisals, or professional opinions. DTA services, deliverables, timing, responsibilities, fees, and limitations are established separately in a written engagement agreement; no single engagement necessarily includes every service described above.

Evidence hierarchy

What is sourced—and what is judgment.

The calculator begins with a size-based range informed by completed-deal reporting. Industry and company-quality adjustments are deliberately labeled DTA judgment until subscription comparables or a documented industry dataset replaces them.

01 · PUBLISHED EVIDENCE

IBBA/M&A Source

Q4 2025 Market Pulse reported 4.1× EBITDA for the $2M–$5M transaction-value segment and 5.5× for $5M–$50M. Below $2M, the report uses SDE—not EBITDA.

Other public sources

DTA also reviews publicly available lower-middle-market and private-capital reports for directional context. These sources are not treated as direct comparables or represented as applicable to every prospect.

Industry and quality

The current modifiers encode directional buyer logic. They are transparent hypotheses—not regression results or represented private comparables—and must be validated in the paid Navigator.

Confidence means confidence in the estimate—not company quality.

The public-data tool is capped at Moderate confidence. Confidence rises with better EBITDA evidence, financial reporting and relevant scale; it does not become High without company-specific normalization and credible private transaction comparables. Data basis: published information through Q4 2025, reviewed August 2026.
